Uma história de Halloween

Uma história de Halloween - Rodrigo M. - 7.º F

A Halloween Story R. M., 7th F
One day in a small village a group of children went to a Halloween party.
The four friends were dressed as wizards and vampires and had a lot of fun.
When they were going home, they met an old woman at the cemetery.
They went to talk to her and asked her:
- Aren’t you afraid?
She answered:
-Yes, when I was alive!
The children were scared and ran home.

Did some spooky activities and celebrated “trick or treat” in a safe way!
Remember:
Werewolves howl, and phantoms prowl!
Shadows of thousand years rise again and voices whisper “Halloween is here”!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

The sea in songs

I used to be a sailorTracy Chapman
(Matters of the heart, 1992)
I used to be a sailor
Who sailed across the seas
But now I'm just an island
Since they took my boat away from me
Oh no

I don't like being stationary
I like the rocky wavy motions of the sea
I sit and rot behind these padded walls
Hoping one day they'll fall
And set me free

He wrote his epitaph
He wrote his eulogy
It said "I think that I can die now
For my true love won't come for me"
Oh no

I don't like being stationary
I like the rocky wavy motions of the sea
I sit and rot behind these padded walls
Hoping one day they'll fall
And set me free

I used to be a sailor
Who sailed across the seas
But now I'm just an island
Since they took my boat away from me
Oh no

I don't like being stationary
I like the rocky wavy motions of the sea
I sit and rot behind these padded walls
Hoping one day they'll fall
And set me free

Set me free
Set me free

Set me free

Octopus's Garden, The Beatles
 (Abbey Road, 1969)

I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus's garden in the shade

I'd ask my friends to come and see
An octopus's garden with me
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden in the shade

We would be warm below the storm
In our little hideaway beneath the waves
Resting our head on the sea bed
In an octopus's garden near a cave

We would sing and dance around
Because we know we can't be found
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden in the shade

We would shout and swim about
The coral that lies beneath the waves
(Lies beneath the ocean waves)
Oh what joy for every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy and they're safe
(Happy and they're safe)

We would be so happy you and me
No one there to tell us what to do
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden with you
In an octopus's garden with you
In an octopus's garden with you

Message In A Bottle, The Police (Reggatta de Blanc, 1979)

Just a castaway
An island lost at sea
Another lonely day
With no one here but me
More loneliness
Than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle

A year has passed since I wrote my note
But I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life
But love can break your heart

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle

Walked out this morning
Don't believe what I saw
A hundred billion bottles
Washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone at being alone
A hundred billion casatways
Looking for a home

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle

Sending out an SOS

Ocean, The Cure (The 13th, 1996)

I don't think I'm any closer now
Than I was at fifteen
I still don't know what I really want
Or how I really feel
Sometimes I think I've seen too much
Sometimes nothing at all
And sometimes I think I just forgot
What I was looking for

But I still need to believe in you
I still need to know you'll never
Never give up
I believe in you
So how can you ever let
My hope turn to despair?
How can you ever stop
Telling me you care?

But I still need to believe in you
I still need to know you'll never
Never give up
I believe in you
So how can you ever let
My hope turn to despair?
Tell me you believe it too
Tell me that you care
How can you ever let
My hope turn to despair?
How can you ever stop
Pretending?

Our world

Afonso Fraga | 9.º B

Chaos, destruction, death.
That was all there was. When they said that we would be the last generation to walk on Earth, I never imagined this. Underwater prisons! That was their solution!
For generation the human kind has been slowly destroying Earth.
Our daily lives are filled with heat waves, freezing storms and terrible droughts, all in the same day. Earthquakes and hurricanes are so common that sometimes we just stop worrying. And the worst of all is that we are not just killing ourselves, we are bringing all the life on Earth with us. Because of our greediness the other living beings are suffering. Well, at least the ones that are left.
All the water on rivers and lakes is poisoned, leaving us with artificial water and food to drink and eat. We cannot live like this anymore. Three quarters of the Earth surface is underwater and the rest is constantly being attacked by natural disasters. 85% of human kind has disappeared. And now, the ones that are left are going to be kept underwater, while the Earth heals itself.
Can you believe it?! We are the ones that mess up and the Earth is the one that has to heal itself!
They are sending us to «protected underwater homes», so they call it. They are going to lock us underwater, where they say it’s safer.  We are going to live like prisoners for the rest of our lives. And even the next generation will still not be able to see the sun, because pollution will not go away that soon.
They say that we are going to have fresh water, fresh air and natural food, everything that we need to have a much better life.
For me, that’s nonsense. I’ve heard too many stories to know how this ends. They only want us down there so that we can work for them. So we can produce all those things that «we’ll» need.
I cannot live like that. There is no way I’m going down there. Of course it will be better, I’ll have a better chance to survive, but I prefer risking my life being free up here than being a slave down there.
I have to escape. Right now.
I’m in the middle of a crowd and we are being led down a long dirty corridor that will take us to the entrance of the submarine. There are not many guards around, I mean, who would want to escape from a better future?
Apparently me.
In the end of the corridor I can see two doors: one to the right, leading to the submarine, and the other to the right, leading to... who knows.
I’ll know.
I reached the corner and prayed to whatever was still up there to give me luck. I gave one more step and started running. A few seconds later I sensed someone coming after me.
I kept on running, turning in every corner but after a while I realised that I was going nowhere.
Suddenly, when I turned one last time to the left, I quickly stopped.
In front of me were about six or seven guards, all looking the same. I turned around to start running again another guard was right behind me. He grabbed me by the arm, stopping me from escaping. The strangest of all was that none of them spoke, so my heavy breathing was the only thing that you could hear in those empty halls.
Two guards then led me down the path that I had just come from. But then I noticed, the guards had a weird code on their coats. They all started with the letters CLO and finished with a number, like 670.
CLO-670. Clones. They were clones. That explains their behaviour. But how could that be possible?! We were told that the resources for cloning had run out long ago.
There is definitely more to what they are telling us.
I tried to get myself free but they were just too strong. After a few turns we came across a body, on the ground, half naked. When we came closer, I noticed he was one of the guards, unconscious without his cloths.
The other two clones didn’t even blink. We just kept on going. But... out of nowhere I was pulled closer to the guard on the right, while the other was pushed away by a kick. He hit the wall and fell to the ground.
I turned around to face a black haired guard. But it was truly not a guard.
He took off his helmet and without saying a word grabbed my hand and together we started running once more. Running, in hope that we could find a better life. It was useless, but we didn’t know that back then.

Don’t be hasty, … Recycle!

Nature doesn’t need people, people need Nature!

Contemplate the beauty of the Earth and you will find reserves of strength for life!

That’s the best gift that we can give our planet on Earth Day!

The Earth is our home, we must keep it and treat it with much love!

Love, care and nurture Nature to have a healthy future!

Hungry?! Thirsty?! The Earth will provide! Preserve it!

Keep close to Nature’s heart! Break clear away and climb a mountain or walk the woods, wash your spirit clean!

The Earth provides for man’s need, not for man’s greed!

Like the trees, we are visitors, guests of the Earth!

If trees gave wifi signals, we’d be planting so trees! Too bad!!! They only produce the oxygen we breathe.

Save the Earth.
It’s the only planet with chocolate!

Selfies and Time-Lapse Videos

Nowadays taking selfies is a very common habit among teenagers and even adults. Selfies are pictures you take of yourself, you can just keep them or post them on your social network like Facebook or Instagram. Time-lapse videos have also become more popular, because many teenagers and adults have started to make them of themselves or their children. In my opinion, selfies are important and bring us some good things, however they may also have negative effects on people’s lives.
Selfies are fun, they create memories of moments that we will enjoy to remembering later. I can tell by my personal experience that we have a good time taking selfies with family and friends or just by ourselves, for example, on snapchat you´re able to create some really cool effects for your selfies and then save them and share them. On the other hand, selfies are dangerous, because some people get  addicted to them and they basically take a selfie every 5 minutes and some of them are unappropriate which can lead to cyberbullying and pedofilia among other things. And while you are taking selfies you may also hurt yourself, for example, you go to a beautiful place like a mountain or so, and you might fall if you do not take caution.
Hugo Cornellier started as a teenager ( nowadays a young adult ) and he created a time-lapse video with selfies he took everyday for 7 years. I love his project, because I think that memories are one of the most important  things in life. With his project,  he and his family and friends, and now everybody in general  are able to watch the video on youtube and see how much he has grown and changed. These kind of projects are amazing, because they show you how you were when you were younger, they remind you about your childhood. I would love to do a project like that, but I don’t believe I would ever be able to, simply because I’m kind of lazy and I would just forget or not be willing to take any more pictures.
Technology became a necessary tool not only for teens but also for adults and even small kids. And even though it may have some bad aspects, it’s a fundamental asset for the development of our generation and for our lives.

My life

I have been playing games since I was 4 years old and that is my biggest love. My father used to play them with me all the time but one day he got real sick and a few weeks after going to the hospital he died. My mother loved my father with all of her heart and losing him was the most complicated thing in her life, so she decided that moving to another city would be better for both of us.
We moved to a big city named Candelion but I never liked the city nor the people that lived there, so at the age of 15 I quit school and since then I have been playing online games 24/7.
I keep playing day after day hoping I can get first place in the world top scores. I started skipping some meals and sometimes I don’t even sleep for days. Once I reached first place I was extremely happy but because of the lack of sleep and the fact that I skipped some meals I ended up in a coma for 3 days.
When I woke up in hospital I had difficulties moving, but I noticed a boy my age, probably 18, sitting in a corner sleeping. He had such beautiful black hair, pale skin, and judging by the state of his hands I could tell he played videogames just like me. I went over to him and when I was 2 cm away from him he woke up and smiled to me: “Hey my name is Zeref, I am a big fan of yours and I have been watching some of your games. I would like you to join my team. You are really amazing.”
I never felt so good in my life, hearing someone saying they loved what I did was just wonderful.
I agreed to join the team, and I regret nothing! Zeref is amazing, I have fallen in love with him but I can’t tell him that because in our world love between people of the same gender is forbidden. Many centuries ago it was allowed, but after The Purges it was outlawed.
Once again here I am 3 days without sleeping. We have been training really hard for the competition and I can’t let Zeref down. I will do this for him and maybe after this I will quit competing because I am afraid of ending up really sick. I am the only person my mother has left and I won’t let anything make her suffer again.
If we win I will finally confess to him, no matter what he thinks. If I have to break the rules to be with him so be it, there is no stopping me now.
